FABRIC LAMB

Use medium-weight cotton or other suitable fabric. Cut out pattern pieces and pin them on the straight of the grain, as indicated by the arrows. A 1/4” seam allowance is included.

Cut out required number of pieces according to pattern.

EARS - With right sides facing, stitch ear front to ear bach leaving bottom open for turning Trim tips, clip curves, turn right-side out and press. Mark ear placement on head using the pattern as a guide. Baste ears into position on right side of fabric matching up raw edges, if desired, ears may be sewn on outside of head (as shown) after lamb has been stuffed.

UNDERBODY - With right sides facing, pin both underbody pieces together and stitch from corners toward center about an inch, stopping at small circles.

LEGS - With right sides together align one underbody piece with the corresponding body piece and pin. Starting at one end of underbody stitch around legs to the other end. Repeat for other side.

GUSSET - Place the narrow end of the gusset toward the nose and pin into position with right sides facing. Baste into place so that it doesn’t shift when you stitch it.

UPPERBODY - With right sides facing, align both upperbody pieces; pin or baste. Stitch together; clip curves, and turn right side out through the opening in the belly.

Stuff firmly with cotton stuffing, which packs more densely than wool or polyester Fill head, legs and tail first, using the eraser end of a pencil to reach into small spaces; stuff body last.

Note: Legs will splay if not stuffed firmly enough. Turn in seam allowance on underside; whip stitch closed with matching colored thread.

FACE - Use small buttons for eyes, or embroider the eyes, if toy is for a small child under three years of age. For the nose, take a few stitches with four strands of pink embroidery floss.

FELT LAMB

Use wool felt for the best results. Print pattern pieces onto cardstock to make a template, or print them out on paper and glue to cardstock. Trace around the templates onto felt and cut them out. Assemble in same order given for fabric lamb. 'With three strands of embroidery floss, use a blanket-stitch or whip stitch to sew the sections together Leave the underbody portion open for stuffing. Stuff firmly with cotton; stitch opening closed. Ears may be enclosed in the gusset seam, or attached to the outside of the head as shown with a few tacking stitches.
