I love a little pouch and they are such handy quick little items to stitch up. But I have to say that sometimes, I just can't face the zippered part of it. I never have the right size zip and I spend ages puzzling over how to resize either the pattern or the zip. So, I thought I would present to you my Happy Little Poppered Pouch.

I paired that with a simple, sawtooth star and came up with this little linen zakka-style lunch sack. We are going to use some upcycled vinyl so that any fabric can be used for the lining and it will still be waterproof and easy peasy to clean! I made it using linen and Heather Ross Far Far Away III, but it could easily be adapted for a little boy or even a grown up.

Zipper pouches and bags are so much fun to make and so very versatile. It seems no matter where I go or what I am up to I can always use another bag.
Today I am sharing a quick zipper pouch, that goes together in no time at all. I went into my stash to pull a couple of pieces and found this vintage looking floral and paired with it with a fat quarter from my quilting stash. Too many stashes in this house! But what fun I can have going through it all!
This style of bag is even quicker to whip up if you decide not to line it. I like to have a few vinyl lined bags in my personal for frozen items. It keeps the wet contained.
An envelope bottom bag creates a clean finished look and a nice square bottom. It’s a great skill to tuck away for when you need to sew up bags quickly for birthday party treats, Halloween trick or treats, Easter baskets and more! I’ll show you two project tutorials we’ve used it in at the end.

I have given directions for hand sewing and the stitches have a “rustic” look which adds to the beauty, but you can easily whip this up on the sewing machine for a more “polished” look.
Spending time with our daughters while teaching them to sew (or learning along side them) is so rewarding. First of all you get the opportunity to spend that important time together, second you are teaching them a skill that they can use their entire life, third you teaching more than sewing you are teaching perseverance, patience, diligence, etc. Fourthly, you are helping them to learn to be creative!
