Woven Fabric Basket Tutorial
I had fun last weekend making some little woven baskets out of 2-1/2" batik strips. These baskets are often made out of paper such as magazines, newspaper, maps, potato chip bags etc. but I wanted to use fabric. I used interfacing to stiffen the strips and make them easy to weave.

DIY Crochet Nesting Basket Tutorial
These simple baskets are easier than they look - the Eyelash stitch motif along the sides give the effect of a woven basket and results in a super sturdy fabric. They might look a little wobbly at first, but by blocking and shaping them on a form (I used a small tin, a clean wastebasket, and a soup pot for mine), you’ll get nice, even rows.
DIY Small Rope Basket
A no-sew rope basket has been on my DIY list ever since that one time I made string bowls, which honestly weren’t that sturdy though were fun to make. Using macrame rope this time, I love the natural and minimal look this basket has, and because I wanted to go smaller on the basket size I went with a thinner rope. A thicker rope would work beautifully as well and would be even sturdier and easier since it wouldn’t require as many rows. I’m doing that next time!

Table Top Basket Tutorial
Table Top Caddy. A handy table basket to store your sewing supplies.
This table top basket was made using a Vlieseline product called Solufleece. It is a water soluble fabric and is excellent for creating open work for free motion embroidery. I have used it in another way here, sandwiched between layers of fabric to create a scrunched (crashing) effect. It can be washed out when you have finished but for this project I have left it in place so it helps provide support to the sides of the basket.
