And of course, this could be done with sewing and would be a lot more durable that way and should probably be the first line of action if possible, but for the don’t-have-or-want-to-get-a-sewing-machine-or-know-how-to-sew club, this option will satisfy the craving. For all my no sew DIYs, I use this fabric glue which has held up SO well across all my no sew projects. Literally sewing in a tube.
I’ve been meaning to do this DIY for a while and was reminded of those lost plans when I recently came across a spotted clutch that was very pricey. Granted, that one is a lot better quality than this one I made, but for how easy this was to make (no sewing, the title is correct), I’m more focused on how it turned out really cute and gets the job done.
Materials:
-7 inch zipper
-fabric glue
-fabric (a heavier, cotton, outdoor fabric is best)
-scissors
-pencil
-ruler
-fabric marker
Step 1: Measure and cut an 8×11″ piece of fabric.
Step 2: Draw similar shapes onto your fabric with a fabric marker. Place a piece of paper or a magazine underneath the fabric to protect your surface.
Step 3: Turn the fabric face down and iron back about a half inch of the fabric on the side thats 8 inches long.
Step 4: With the fabric still facing down, place the zipper across the middle and apply a line of fabric glue down each side of the zipper.
Step 5: Fold each side of the fabric over on top of the glue and press firmly. Let the glue dry before proceeding to the next step.
Step 6: Unzip the zipper and turn the fabric inside out.
Step 7: Apply fabric glue along both open sides of the pouch and press down firmly onto the fabric. Let the glue dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Step 8: Cut off any excess ends on the zipper and turn the pouch inside out.
Step 9: Fill the pouch with your favorite makeup or even small school supplies!
