First of all: This leather clutch is a very nice beast! I would not have thought that she could turn into such a fury. Gentlemen! When I discovered this insanely great, soft, metallic shimmering leather remnant in the leather shop around the corner, bags, clutches and wallets danced in my head cinema like crazy polka. In the meantime, it has become more of a standing party. Because when I was sitting at the sewing machine on Sunday and my tailored leather parts suddenly developed a life of their own, it was over. This leather is smooth, stretchy - just bitchy. It is difficult to sew the parts together as planned. This is probably also due to the fact that I did not use pins to avoid holes. In the end it was more of a sweaty pi-mal-thumb affair… If you have tips for leather sewing – always give it to me!

DIY Painted Fold-over Clutch
I really love clutches, I mean, who doesn't? So when I was in New York for a Heather Ross sewing workshop, I stumbled upon the most beautiful waxed linen fabric that just called out to be made into a clutch. I had seen this amazing vintage striped trim at the store and knew I should buy it, but in typical fashion I decided to "think about it" which loosely translates into regret it later for not buying the whole roll.
DIY Suede & Gold Striped Mini Clutch
I had some suede pieces from an old vest I bought at the thrift shop and a gold zipper and decided it would be fun to make a small zippered clutch to give as a Christmas present. Or maybe I will just keep it for myself! However, this project is so easy I’ll probably make a few more to give as gifts. I like the mixture of the suede with the glitter.
