Here is a fun simple project for yourself or a great gift idea. This whole project will only take you about an hour to an hour and a half.
Supplies:
2 pieces of fabric 13 1/2″x10″
1 piece of oil cloth (or regular fabric, your choice) 13 1/2″ x 10″
2 pieces of fabric 3″ x 18″
Fusible fleece 13 1/2″ x 10″
Matching thread
Attach the fusible fleece to your oil cloth or whatever you are using as your liner fabric.
Fold one of your fabric pieces in half lengthwise and press for your pocket.
Starting in the middle mark your pockets. I did mine an inch. I made my last pocket 2″ for my bigger pocket.
Line up the raw edges of the pocket and the oil cloth and pin in place.
Starting at top sew straight down the lines.
Clip threads.
Take one of the 3″ x 18″ pieces and fold in 1/4″ and press.
Then fold in half lengthwise and press.
Unfold and fold the edges into the pressed seam and press again.
Fold back in half and press again.
Sew down the middle. I did a decorative stitch but a straight stitch works just the same. Do the same with with other strap.
Take the straps and line them up above the pocket and sew in place.
Place the other piece in top of the pocket. Right sides together and pin in place.
Sew all the way around with a 1/4″ seam leaving a 3″ opening.
Clip corners and turn.
Press flat.
Sew the hole closed.
