Easy DIY Pincushion Sewing Tutorial - How to make a pincushion. How to sew a pumpkin pincushion.
I'm certainly not the first to write a tutorial for a pincushion – I didn't intend to reinvent the wheel, but perhaps you'll find a helpful tip or two here. :-)
If you're also always frustrated that you can't quite close the turning opening "invisibly," I've photographed the individual steps to help you achieve a near-perfect finish.
For the pincushion, you'll need a circular piece of fabric (mine has a diameter of 13 cm) and a piece of fabric for the back – slightly larger than the circle.
Cut this piece of fabric in half. You don't need to worry about any other measurements—just cut it in half. Then sew it together right sides facing, leaving an opening in the middle large enough to turn it right side out.
Press the seam allowance open...
and pin the circle to the right side of the fabric. The opening should be roughly in the center.
Sew once around the perimeter with a short stitch length...
and cut out the circle with pinking shears - or with normal scissors and make a few cuts all around up to the seam, so that the curve will be nicer afterwards.

Then the turning opening is closed with a few stitches by hand, and this (usually) unsightly opening is now on the back, so it won't be noticeable if it's not perfectly pretty. :-)
Take a sufficiently long thread (I used embroidery thread) and stitch from the bottom through the center, dividing the cushion into equal parts. First halve, then quarter, etc. (always stitch through the center and pull the thread slightly tight)...
Finally, tie a secure knot and sew a button in the center. Your floral pincushion is finished, without any unsightly side seams. :)
