I really love clutches, I mean, who doesn't? So when I was in New York for a Heather Ross sewing workshop, I stumbled upon the most beautiful waxed linen fabric that just called out to be made into a clutch. I had seen this amazing vintage striped trim at the store and knew I should buy it, but in typical fashion I decided to "think about it" which loosely translates into regret it later for not buying the whole roll.
I had some suede pieces from an old vest I bought at the thrift shop and a gold zipper and decided it would be fun to make a small zippered clutch to give as a Christmas present. Or maybe I will just keep it for myself! However, this project is so easy I’ll probably make a few more to give as gifts. I like the mixture of the suede with the glitter.
Here’s how I made it.
What you can’t see here is that this bag stays closed by recycling a used tape measure from a home improvement center. Fortunately, my husband had one he was happy to donate. The measurements are 8″ Width x 6″ Height x 2″ Depth. As with any sewing project, there is room to personalize and modify to your specific needs.

Over the last five years or so, it seems that the world has become totally and completely inundated with… water bottles. Probably due to a combination of people becoming more environmentally and health conscious, water bottles—whether they be plastic, metal, or glass—seem to be filling retail space lately. This is probably a good thing. I am totally, 100% in favor of people making healthier, more affordable, and more environmentally-friendly drinking choices.
