DIY Mini Pouch /Coin Purse / Card Holder / Wallet   Tutorial. For all of you who are still looking for a small gift that can be sewn in no time, I have a quick project here.

What you will need:

2 different cotton fabrics (woven)
Vlieseline H220 or H250
Snap fasteners

Cut the following rectangles from the cotton fabrics:

Small purse: light fabric - 38 x 18 cm, dark fabric - 2 x 18 x 14 cm
Medium purse: light fabric - 47 x 24 cm, dark fabric - 2 x 21 x 17 cm
Large purse: light fabric - 69 x 36 cm, dark fabric - 2 x 32 x 24 cm

Now cut one piece of fusible interfacing for each fabric size... (2 pieces total)

...and iron onto the wrong side of the fabric.

Fold the large rectangle in half lengthwise, wrong sides together...

...and iron it flat.

Now fold it together again according to the picture.

The fold line is now on the left, the right side is open. Please do NOT iron this too firmly, just lightly!

Now, starting from the open side, draw a vertical line:

Small purse: 7 cm
Medium purse: 8.5 cm
Large purse: 12 cm

You can use a marker or a pencil; the seam won't be visible later.

Now sew all four layers of fabric together along the line using a straight stitch. Pin securely beforehand to ensure all layers meet at the top edge.

This is how it should look from above. Like a fish ;-)

Now fold the fish in half...

...so that the front center fold meets the seam.

Iron it flat! It should now protrude by just under 1cm on the outer edges.

The top edge is now closed, the bottom edge is still open.

Now place this light-colored piece of fabric on the right side of the unironed dark fabric.

As already mentioned, the open edges are at the bottom.

The clean folded edges are on top.

All edges should now meet.

Now place the piece of fabric with fusible interfacing right sides together on top of the two previous fabrics.

Secure it well, leaving the top edge open!

Sew the 3 marked sides with a straight stitch, approximately 0.75cm from the edge.

Trim the bottom corners.

This is what the view from above into the interior should look like!

Turn everything over through the open side and shape well.

I always carefully shape the corners with a chopstick. Be very careful not to pierce all the way through!

Iron everything very flat again. Press the corners firmly and firmly. The top side is still open.

Fold both sides of the fabric inwards along the top edge and iron well.

Now sew the open edge together with a straight stitch, close to the edge, i.e. about 0.2-0.4cm from the edge.

Then attach either one or two snap fasteners. The number is a matter of personal preference; I usually only attach one snap in the center of small wallets, and two snaps to each side of larger wallets.

The medium size is perfect for cash.

The small wallet is great for all kinds of cards, loyalty cards, a little emergency cash for the concert, etc...

The large wallet can hold anything that is A5 size - calendars, folded copies, etc.

You can also sew the flap in a rounded shape. Simply find a suitable round object (plate, bowl, etc.) of the right size, trace it, and cut it out. With this rounded version, you also need to close the top rounded edge, leaving a small opening on the side for turning. Folding this neatly inwards is a little tricky, but with a little patience, you'll manage it ;-)

Even though it might seem a bit complicated here, you'll see it's really quick! Sew a few little goodies for friends, children, or colleagues ;-)
