I will use OxfordCotton TCBlend fabric as the main material for the lining, and since cut-to-size zippers are easier to sew, I will use a method of attaching the zipper head to it.

The outer and lining fabrics are cut to the finished size with a 1cm seam allowance on all sides. Personally, I tend to leave a seam allowance of 0.7 to 0.8cm for mini bags. I cut to 9.5cm x 19cm.

These are auxiliary materials that will provide cushioning inside the pouch, even though they are not visible. Cut the 2-ounce fusible batting to the size of the outer fabric minus the seam allowance, and cut the air mesh material smaller than the size of the main materials, the lining or outer fabric.

Adhesive Coating is literally cotton that adheres firmly to the fabric. The thickness and the cushioning feel when finished vary depending on the ounce (unit of weight), but 2-ounce adhesive batting is mainly used for small items. If it gets thicker, it becomes difficult when you encounter the process of turning the fabric inside out.

Place the adhesive batting in the center of the outer fabric and press a steam iron up and down to prevent it from slipping, and it will adhere to the fabric. Since adhesive is pre-applied to one side, it bonds using moisture and heat.

Air mesh material is lightweight yet thick, so using it appropriately on small items makes it easy to add cushioning. Conversely, sewing becomes difficult, so you must decide whether to use it considering the purpose or size. This time, since the main objective was to ‘add cushioning’ from the start, I decided to use it boldly.

Secure the air mesh to the center of the lining. Now, move it along with the lining as it goes.

Now it is time to combine all these materials. Start by connecting the zipper between the outer fabric and the lining.

Press and stitch from the outer fabric side.

Connect the outer fabric and lining to the opposite zipper in the same way. Pull the needle and presser foot toward the center of the zipper and sew with a seam allowance of about 0.5 cm.

Likewise, press and stitch the side of the zipper from the outer fabric. Since it is a mini size and the cylinder is narrow, it becomes a bit easier if you split and spread out the zipper.

Insert the zipper head into the zipper, pass it through once, then insert it again to close both ends of the zipper.

Fold the flat pouch so that the zipper is on one side, determine the zipper height, and mark it with chalk. The chalk mark disappears when heat is applied.

Turn it inside out and fold the outer fabric and lining along the marks.

Mark the opening on the lining. Anything less than 5cm is fine; I made the opening too small, so it was difficult to turn inside out.

Care must be taken not to sew linings with openings.

Cut each corner diagonally before flipping.

I left the opening too small, so it is hard to turn inside out.

Close the opening with a machine or hand sewing.

Turn it inside out through the open zipper and iron it to finish.

It seems the lightweight and cushioned air mesh material really did a great job this time.
