 It's a very simple bag, no lining or zippers, but very practical. How to make a boxed tote bag for beginner sewers. Make a basic tote bag.

What you will need:

1.    2 pieces home dec fabric cut to 23 X16 inches
2.    2 pieces of webbing 22 inches long each
3.    2 heavy duty snaps

Directions:

1. With right sides of fabric together, serge (or straight-stitch 1/2 seam then zig-zag edge) sides and bottom of bag together.

2. Turn the bag right side out, making sure to use a bone folder or comer turner to push out comers completely.

3. Working with one of the comers, pull the front and back of the bag away from one another, lining up the bottom and side seams of comer on top of each other and iron the comer this way. Repeat for other comer.

4. Draw a line across the comer 3 inches from the top of seam from one side to the other and fold the comer up to the side of the bag on the line and iron.

5. Following the manufacturers instructions for the snap, install the snap head of the snap on the outside of the fold, I inch down from the tip of the comer, Now install the other snap piece on the main body of the bag so the comer will stay in place. Repeat for other comer.

6. Turn bag inside out and press down 1/4 inch of top of bag to inside. Now turn down 11/4 inches, press and top-stitch.

7. Measure 6.5 inches from each side seam and mark on font and back of bag. Line edge of webbing up with mark and sew down each end following this boxed "X" as a pattern for strength. (The diagram doesn't
show the handle)
