Sewing Machine Cover Free Tutorial and Pattern. How to Make a Sewing Machine Cover.
notes:
This pattern should work for most models, but be sure to measure your machine to make sure it will fit within the given measurements and adjust accordingly.
We like to use a big 24" x 36" newsprint pad for pattern making, but any paper will do. If you're feeling brave, go ahead and draw them right on your fabric.
1/4" seam allowances used throughout.
materials:
1 yard of fabric or enough of several fabrics to fit the diagram measurements, thread, scissor or rotary cutter & ruler, paper, sewing machine
finished measurements:
12" x 17 x 3.5" depth at top of machine and 8" depth at base of machine.
directions:
1. Cut out each paper pattern piece according to the measurements in the diagram. You should have 5 pieces total: front, back, 2 sides, and a top.
2. Match top and front panels right sides together along side A. Pin and stitch. Repeat with the back panel. Press seams to one side.
3. Match side and front panels right sides together along side B. Pin and stitch. Repeat on opposite side with back panel. Press to one side.
4. Stitch top and side panels together at side C. Press to one side.
5. Finish seams with a zigzag stitch.
6. Fold raw edge at hem under 1/2". Press. Open. Match the raw edge with the fold line and press. Fold and press again. Pin and stitch.
7. Turn right side out and put on your machine. So cozy!
