Reusable Snack Bag Sewing Tutorial

Reusable Snack Bag Sewing Tutorial

How to Make Reusable Snack Bags (Tutorial) | Sewing projects for beginners

Supplies:
2 - Main Fabric (cut them both 8" x 10")
2 - Contrast Fabric for decorative strip (cut them both 8"x 2")
2 - Lining Fabric * I used a home decor weight, but you could use light interfacing to the lining OR just use regular quilting cotton, I have made these both ways and they both come out great.                          (cut the both 8" x 11.5")
7.5" of velcro
12" of 1" wide cotton webbing

*I used 1/4 inch seams*

Attach the patchwork strip to the top of your main fabric.

Press the seam upwards and topstitch.

Now take your main pieces and lining pieces and measure out 1" boxes on each bottom corner.

Cut out the 1" boxes on all 4 pieces of your fabric.

**I forgot to take pictures of this part!**
Mease 1/2" down from the top of your lining.
Place on half of your velcro down and sew around the perimeter 2 times, don't forget to backstitch.
Repeat for the other piece of lining with the opposite side of the velcro.
Now the velcro is attached!

Now take your main fabric pieces and sew down the 2 sides.
next sew straight across the bottom.
Now you should have 2 holes on the bottom of your sack.

Press open your side seams.
match up your seams and pin the openings closed.

Sew back and forth a few times to make sure they don't come undone.
Repeat for other side.

Reap the same steps for the lining BUT LEAVE A 3" OPENING AT THE BOTTOM for turning!!

Ok, sorry I yelled.

Now take your webbing and line it up close to your side seam.

Baste in in place.

Now I am going to confuse you.
Take the handle and pull it around the sack to the opposite side and baste it next to that seam.
Please see pictures.
I confuse myself with this step.

Almost done!

Turn your main piece right side out and tuck in inside your lining so the right side are together.
Pin.

Sew all along the top.

Turn the bag right side out through your opening on the bottom.
Press.
Topstitch the top.
Machine stitch close your lining.

You made a Snack Sack!
