Jeans Upcycling. Making Toms-style Baby Boots. Making Baby Shoes.
Today, I upcycled some jeans for the first time in a while!
I made Toms-style baby shoes.
I was worried that my child wouldn't be able to wear them for long and would grow out quickly, so I decided to make a pair. Just then, I found a tutorial on making pretty Toms-style booties on a website!
I made mine with jeans and fabric. I think using thick canvas fabric would be good too!
Here is the website where the instructions and pattern are available:
"DIY Tom's Inspired Baby Shoes - Free Pattern"
You can download both baby and child sizes.
You just need to enlarge or reduce the size to fit your child's foot.

Cut the jeans to the required length, cut the side seams, and draw the pattern on the inside.
2 outer fabric pieces for the sole, 2 inner fabric pieces
2 pieces of outer fabric and 2 pieces of lining for the instep
2 outer fabric pieces and 2 lining pieces for the toe area
2 pieces of outer fabric and 2 pieces of lining for the heel area
2 pieces of heel reinforcement fabric
Once the fabric cutting is finished, overlap the outer fabric and lining of the heel area right sides together.
Sew the top part.
Iron the heel patch fabric.
Secure it by sewing.
Sew the top edge through the elastic band, leaving a gap equal to the width.
Sew the outer and inner fabrics of the instep area, cut the marked parts, fold them, and iron them.
Insert a wide elastic band and sew it.
Sew the outer and inner fabrics together at the toe area and iron it. Sew it slightly overlapping with the instep area.
Overlap the toe area, gather the pieces, and sew them.
Match it to the sole lining fabric.
After separating the sole fabric again, stitch the sides.
Then, sew it together with the sole lining fabric again.
Place the outer sole fabric right sides together and sew along the finished line, leaving a turning hole.
Turn it inside out through the opening and shape it.
The opening can be finished by blind stitching.
The method for making kids' sizes is slightly different. Please refer to the link!
Have fun making it!
