This little zipper pouch is a perfect fit for tissues, candy, contacts, medications, etc. Make one to keep and two to give away!
MATERIALS (makes 3)
2 print fat eighths (9" x 21")
¼ yd. fusible fleece (cut 1 - 8½" x 20")
3 - 14" zippers, thread
SEWING INSTRUCTIONS
A. Center and fuse the fleece to the wrong side of the lining print. Layer the second print rectangle on top of the fleece and quilt. Use a walking foot to quilt straight lines 1½" apart or use a darning foot to meander. Cut 3 - 6½" x 8"
B. Align the zipper with the 6½" edge, right sides together as shown, (zipper pull will face down) Stitch a ¼" seam through all layers. Zig-zag along edge to flatten the edge and prevent raveling.
C. Fold the quilted panel away from the zipper and topstitch a scant ¼" away from the fold, making sure to catch the edge of the zipper tape underneath.
D. Fold the quilted panel in half and align the zipper with the opposite edge. Stitch a ¼" seam. Zig-zag the edge.
E. Unzip the zipper so the panel is flat and it is easy to topstitch along the second half of the zipper, (like Step C)
F. Close the zipper to make a tube. With the zipper centered, flatten the pouch and stitch a ¼" seam at the end. (at the bottom of the zipper)
G. Unzip the zipper and stitch seam at the opposite end. After stitching, make sure the zipper pull is between the seams. Trim the zipper ends even with the fabric. Zig zag seams.
H. Fold each corner as shown and stitch a line ¾" from the point, perpendicularto the end seam.
