 Fabrics you will need:
1.  The main part of the bag can be anything you want!  In this bag I used a wild print but you can quilt or do anything you like in this part, be creative!
 * cut 1 of front fabric  22" x 13"
 * cut 1 of lining fabric  22" x 13"

2.  Binding:  mine is pink!
 * cut 1 -  22" x 3.5"

3.  Handle: mine is the same print here but you can use anything!
  * cut 1 -  22" x 2.5"

You will also need:
1.  Peltex 70 (Pellon) - Full width of Pellon (20 inches) x 8 inches tall
2.  Optional button for decoration

 Step 1:

Fold the main fabric you selected in half lengthwise with right sides together.  Sew the center back seam as shown in the picture (sew all seams in this project at 5/8", secure with a zig-zag stitch, trimming all seams).  Repeat same step with lining.  You will make two separate bags, one out of fabric and one out of lining. You cut the lining slightly smaller than the main fabric so it will be slightly shorter in the width and fit easily inside the main fabric once completed.

 Step 2:

Fold the bag in half and sew the bottom of the bag's seam, centering the side seam as in the picture below.  Do the same of the lining.

Trim all your seams after securing them with a zig zag stitch.

Step 3:

Open the bottom of the bag and pull the corners out. Press seams away from bulky center seam.

 Step 4:

Mark 1.5" down from the corner as in picture below and mark of the corner, this is where you are going to sew.  Mark all corners, both on your bag and your lining.

Step 5:

Sew both corners and then trim.  Do the same with the fabric and the lining fabric.  Be careful not to sew the corners down onto the bag.

Step 6:

Open the bags, both the main fabric and the lining.  Turn the main fabric right side out and iron it to get the wrinkles out.   Keep the lining with the wrong sides out and iron the lining to get the wrinkles out.

 Step 7:

Now the bags are ready to put together.  There should be no seams showing when the bags are together.

Step 8:

Sew binding end placing right sides together, creating a circle.  After sewing the seam, open up and fold in half with wrong sides together.

Step 9:

Sew the binding to the top of the bag about 1" below the top of the bag, with the seams all facing up towards to the top of the bag.  You will be folding the binding over the seams on top to the inside of the bag, onto the lining.

Step 10:

Pin the binding to the inside of the bag, onto the lining. Hand whipstitch in place or sew on the machine being careful to sew with thread that will match the front side because the stitching will be seen.

 Step 11:

Sew the handle by folding it in half length wise and securing the ends.  Pin the handle to the inside of the back of the bag at the top. Sew the button on.

 Step 12:

Use Pellon to create a stiff holder for the plastic bag you will be using in the bag.

Step 13:

Cut the Pellon to be slightly smaller than your bag.
 * If you used my measurements, cut the Pellon 8" tall, use the full width of the Pellon.

Step 14:

Place the cut Pellon into your bag overlapping the extra width.  Mark with a pencil where to sew the overlapped pellon.  While keeping the pellon overlapped, making sure your marks are correct and sew the overlapped pellon on your machine.  Place the tube over the arm of the machine and sew the center first, then the close side.  Rotate the pellon around to the side not sewn yet.

Step 15:  Place the Pillow into the bag and secure it to the bag by hand sewing it low, leaving room for a bag to fold over the Pellon inside the bag.

Sewing the pellon to the bag low enough that the plastic bag will be able to tuck down behind the it.

As you can see by this picture, the Pellon is attached to the bag, low in the back middle only.  This gives you plenty of room for the bag to fit over the Pellon.
