Plushy Pig DIY Tutorial and Pattern

How to make a Pig Plushie. DIY Plush Pig Free Sew Pattern & Tutorial. Black/white soft toy pig.

 Materials 

white fleece with black dots
a small piece of light pink fleece
2 black or dark brown buttons
9 cm elastic 1 cm width
black or white zipper 12 cm long
dark pink knitting yarn
2 pink plastic slider rings 7 mm
20 cm long and 25 cm width piece of fabric for the small pocket fiberfill

Print the pattern. (DOWNLOAD HERE)  The pattern includes seam allowances 5 mm. 

Cut the pattern pieces from both fabrics white fleece with black dots
-body 2x
-belly gusset 2x
-outer ears 2x
-tail 1x
-nose top 1x
-nose 1x

light pink fleece
-snout 1x
-inner ears 1x
-soles 4 

-place one side of the zipper between the two notches
-pin the zipper on the fabric
-sew the zipper
-do the same with other side of the zipper

-pin the center seam of the belly gusset on both sides
-stitch the centre seam

-make the money pocket
-stitch both short sides of the money pocket first on the zipper side
-close the money pocket

-pin the darts marked on the belly gusset
-stitch the darts

-pin the legs of the belly gusset on the legs of the body
-stitch
-leave the under part of the legs open for the soles

Place the tail on the tail notch marked in pattern and pin

-pint the back seam 
-stitch the back seam
-leave the filling gap open 

-pin the nose top on the nose
-stitch both seams

-pin the ears between the two ear notches that are marked on the body pattern

-pin the nose on the body 
-stitch the nose on the body

-set the soles in the lower leg 
-pin 
-stitch
-turn the pig

We are going to stuff the pig.This will take some attention while your putting the fiberfill in because the money pocket must be kept in straight upwards position inside the belly of the pig.

The best way to do this:
-place your hand in the money pocket
-keep you hand straight upwards to the filling gap
-stuff the pig on both sides of the money pocket
-start with the four legs
-fill the nose 
-fill the rest of the body

-close the back head using a ladder stitch

 

Making the nostrils (illustrations how to make them can be found here)
-lay one of the plastic slider rings 7 mm on the nose
-make stitches going from the inside the slider ring to the outside of the slider 
-ring with a double thread of dark pink knitting yarn

-give the pig eyes
-use the buttons
-stitch the buttons on the marked places that you can find on the front head pattern piece
