The bag I made was a lazy bucket bag, rather than the traditional one with the circular base as I wasn't sure my machine could handle it. The best part of using leather is that you don't need to finish the edges or line the bag necessarily, and given my laziness, I didn't find it necessary.
This pattern working with so many fabrics and it’s just the perfect size for an overnight bag or carry on.

To make these pleated tote bags, you need about a yarn of fabric for the outer bag, and a yard for the ling. I’d pick heavy weight cotton or canvas for the outside, and a cotton (lined with interfacing) for the lining of the bag.

Bias binding, or bias tape, is a narrow length of fabric cut on the "bias", meaning that it has been cut at a 45º angle to the grainline or selvedges. When woven fabric is cut on the bias, it has greater flexibility and stretch than fabric cut on the straight grain. This makes bias binding ideal for finishing off a rounded edge, trimming quilts and adding a decorative touch.
